Strange frost pattern on roof after attic spray foam?

I recently switched from an insulated attic floor with vented assembly to a closed-cell spray-foamed roof deck in my attic (for storage, ducting for HVAC, etc.). On the first cold morning after my install, I saw the expected "stay cold longer than the neighbors" effect, but also noticed that the overhang on the roof system (past the line of spray-foam) didn't appear to frost over, or at least thawed far faster than the upper section of the shingles/deck. Is this normal and what is the likely source of the heat?

FYI, all the sill plates are foamed over on the inside, so any permeation of heat from the walls below would not likely be going through the top plates. The rafter edges are still exposed and the cavities are filled to an ave. depth of 3-4".
