I'm using method 2, the Easy Angle ruler. I am sewing the pink triangles onto the diamond, almost done. I have cut most of the black triangles but need to cut more. I hope I get the black triangles sewn tomorrow.
I wish I had seen the strip method before I cut all the pieces. It does have some waste to it though.

Linda, I've been doing method 3 with the bonus HSTs and making those into mini double diamonds. They are so cute. Don't have a clue what I'll do with them, but looking at them puts a smile on my face. :-)

I heard and used the post it tip last year working on Celtic Solstice. It worked great! And I'm such a cheapie I saved the post its and am using them for notes about other projects. They won't stick any more but I can pin them on my bulletin board. :)

I'm using method three but still haven't decided if I'm saving all those little bonus HSTs. The amount of work in these clues is overwhelming me and I can't even start #2 till I get back to California tomorrow. You'll all be ahead of me.

I did get clue #1 finished so that's a plus.

I just got home from Orlando, so I have not even started clue #2. It will be Thursday evening before I can even think about it as I teach in the evening after work through Wednesday. Same thing happened last year.

Don't worry about being behind; I haven't even started cutting yet and won't for another week or two. I'll be working on this in March! I will be referring back to all your suggestions once I get started.

On this clue I will use one neutral fabric for all. My other fabrics just don't look right. I will have to find something else for other clues as I don't have the three yards but I do have enough for all these and it's fabric that goes better with the black and pink. The brownish and yellowish tans just don't seem right. Guess I'm only half-scrappy.

TG/Linda, I'm using anything white for my neutral. With most of the fabric bright, I thought that would go better than the brownish neutral. Plus, I didn't want it to look choppy with a print design. I thought a place was needed to rest the eye.

You gals that haven't started yet will be able to zip right along once you get going on this. It's unusual for me to make all the components first without making at least an entire block so I hope this Friday brings some of this together. Although, we haven't used any of the green yet so that might be what is used in Friday's clue. I'm getting anxious!

I'm so impressed with you BH mystery quilters...I printed out last years Celtic solstice, but that's about as far as I got, I can't even imagine considering another.... You go gals!!!

I'm still on Clue #1, but think I will try the method with the E-Z angle ruler, just for the heck of it. I don't stress if mine aren't perfect like some of them seem to be doing.

Beverly, I can't stress about this either. We have more important things we could stress about it we wanted stress.

I'm hoping to finish Clue 2 tomorrow. I'm sure glad I'm not doing the big size.

Beverly and Sharon, I don't stress about it either. I do my best and call it good enough. I finished sewing clue 2 and need to press all of them. I am satisfied with my blocks.

I have found the quilt police. They are alive and on Facebook at Quiltville Open Forum. Some can be quite snippy, shame on them! Most of us are not professionals and do not expect perfection. There are more important things to stress over.

I did get some of Clue 2 cut out this week. I hope to get caught up this weekend sometime. I do not stress it either. Some of those ladies on the facebook forum make me want to go off on them. :) But I will be nice.

I received the package of fabrics I ordered from Connecting Threads for this project. I'm hoping I can get started on clue #1 on Sunday. Still trying to decide how I want to re-assign the colors. I have to go back and read the pre-instructions again; isn't there a white AND a neutral?

The last 40 rectangles (for the last 20 blocks) have the pink on them, now just to sew again for the little bonus HST and then to sew the black on. I've gotten to where I eliminated drawing the line and just eyeball it - so far, so good.....at least for the pink.

I did the same as you, Sharon. To save the little bonus triangles, I just used the edge of my presser foot as a guide and made that second seam. Seems to work fine for me. Drawing 400 lines on squares was enough drawing for me. Only have the black halves to go so I'm almost caught up.

I was at the LQS today and on the cutting table, i spotted some pink, black units. I asked and yes, she is doing the mystery, her first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. I said i would be back later to see the finished quilt.
And she has changed her neutrals to white, as some of you are doing.
