My knives are in a wood block that lays flat in a drawer right under my prep space. It's easier to pull them out of the flat block than the old countertop block,,and easier to clean my clearer countertop. My little scraper tool fits, too.

My cheap but fab Oxo paring knives are in a section of drawer under the peninsula where I make lunches for ease in cutting up fruits and veggies for the lunch boxes. Not good for their blades, but the butcher sharpens them for me just fine anyway.

I have something similar to bpathome. I bought it at Target and it holds about 12 knives of all sizes.

My most used kitchen knives are on a magnetic strip under the upper cabinets; you can't see them unless you bend down. The rest are in an in-drawer holder but I've never had to access them since the renovation. Only problem is that I always forget to tell people about the knifes and they can never find them. It is so convenient to just grab the one I want without having to open anything.

Handy, scrappy! My most used knives hang on the end of an upper cabinet run. They aren't high quality knives, but I've had them a million years and they hold a sharp edge and are weighted nicely. They have a little hole in the tip and hang on a peg board that was part of the set.

My (supposedly) better quality knives are in a Wüsthof drawer block.

I have a drawer full of them loose- but most of them have their own plastic protectors/sheaths.
If I had the wall space for them, I would put them on a magnetic strip in a heartbeat.

I don't like using a block because a block can be a hosting ground for random food bits and bacteria. No matter how well you clean your knives or nicely store your block, the stuff can get in there. That's why I use plastic protectors instead- you can soak them in bleach water to really clean em good as needed.

Hijack alert: scrappy, is that a zojirushi rice cooker/pressure cooker? Can you tell me how you like it?

In wooden blocks purchased at WS. I believe Wood Hollow (which is the rest of dividers shown in picture) will do them too.

I love that the blades don't bump up against each other and they are very accessible on the wall. I could get by with just 1 but it's a lot more comfortable with two. I also love that they do not take up any counter space.

HI pathhome- couldn't email you so answering here. The zojirushi is great although I have only cooked white rice with it. It has a timed start for cooking that I use all the time and it keeps rice for several days.
