NXR 36" gas 6-burner vs. Bertazzoni 36" dual-fuel 5-burner
Comments (4)Don't know if the NXR could be said to boost resale values of the house more than the Berta ranges or vice versa. Neither brand is well known. The Bertas do look spiffier and you can get them with colored finishes.. The NXR is, frankly, plain and definitely industrial looking. THe NXR might look fine, though. Have you seen the Fine Homebulding spread that I've linked to below? It's an article about a transitional neighboorhood reno (Bay Area, though) with a 36" NXR and a Kobe hood. Gives an idea of possibilities. The Berta range and hood combo sounds like quite the deal. Is that dual-fuel Berta a 36" or a 30" unit? Price seems way low for a 36" dual fuel Berta. Last I recall hearing here was that a 36" all-gas Berta could be had for $2999 but that the dual fuel models were a lot more expensive. Also, what do you know about the hood that goes with the Berta range? Comments (5)We bought the Bertazzoni Pro in red in June 2015, and so it is an older model, plus ours has a gas oven, but I think dual fuel is probably better, as mine does not have a low temperature setting (i.e. below 250°F). My oven is not self-cleaning. The burners do have childproof features installed, and the handyman who installed my front door really liked that because he has a rambunctious young daughter. You can light the burners with a match if there is no electricity, and I like that also. Ours came with a free microwave oven, which we installed later (not shown in this photo). Mine came with a wok ring, which I do not see in the one you linked to, but I think you could probably buy that separately. I also cook with a wok, and the wok holder keeps the wok securely in place. I have enjoyed using this range very much, and I guess my only regret is not getting dual fuel....See MoreBest 36 inch dual fuel ranges
Comments (9)I completely feel that. I finally broke down got a subscription to consumer reports. Smeg reports not great at all, nor was Thor. I’ve decided on Kucht 36 inch dual fuel !! It had great consumer reports and I actually called and spoke w the company they will replace any broken parts and send service people out for free w your warranty, and then after warranty they still help you just pay for service. When getting my first range that’s alittle more expensive than normal ease of repair is very important to me!!!...See MoreRecommendations for 36inch Dual Fuel Range
Comments (3)We have both gas (in the range) and electric (combination steam oven) ovens. I find that for the vast majority of dishes, the fuel source doesn't matter at all. Is there a strong reason why you are focused on dual fuel? Many of the dual fuel ranges these days have trouble with the coating on oven liners failing over time, and you end up with little bits of glass in your food. That's probably the majority of bad reviews you have been reading. Gas ovens anecdotally don't seem to suffer from this issue, and neither do ovens with stainless steel oven cavities (e.g. combination steam wall ovens). The only food where fuel source does make somewhat of a difference is artisanal bread. It prefers higher moisture during the initial oven spring, and gas ovens tend to be dryer than electric ovens that don't require the same type of vent. The solution is easy, I either bake in my steam oven or I use a cast iron Dutch oven when baking in the gas range. Then I can just keep the lid on for the first half of baking. I really enjoy cooking and baking with our Bluestar RNB range; wouldn't recommend buying the Platinum if baking is important to you. Our oven is very even and predictable, as long as you preheat it properly. And that can take between 20min and 40min. If you need faster preheat times, get a small 24" wall oven. They preheat in a few minutes and honestly do fill most of the cooking needs that we have. These days, I only use the Bluestar oven for its amazing broiler or when cooking very large meals....See Moremichfbgal
