Anyone else dealing with Snails???
Comments (15)Yes, I have had a terrible time with snails in the past. This year hasn't been bad so far, but the ones I have are many times over and inch in dimaeter. They shread my gingers and the softer Agaves like my "Joe Hoaks" I couldn't keep a Joe Hoak in a saleable condition in both 06 and 07. Right after a good rain they would come out in the ealry evening and I would go out on the stomping patrol and take out 100 each night as a goal. After about 10 times of that, the number reduced and this year I am seeing my stomping has paid off. I also know they eat up Philodendrons and they probably like the other Aroids as well. They also eat a lot of things in the garden, but I haven't had a garden since the hurricanes dropped a big tree on my square foot garden plots about 3 years ago and haven't had to worry about that....See MoreAnyone else dealing with excessive pet shedding?
Comments (29)I bought a Furminator a month ago and love it~~I got the small one (blue handle) since I have two cats, of course the older white cat that sheds the most does not like it but I make her do it! DS used it on the dog she is short haired and she looked better than the last time she went to the groomer. I was taking my white cat to the groomer 2-3X's a year and that helped alot but she meow's so much and is wiggly they do not want her back:( That is from two groomers. The last trip they called early and had me come get her, she is usually the only cat there and she makes the dogs crazy:(...See MoreDecorating on a dime ...
Comments (9)I've been planning on building a folding table for my laundry area and just saw one advertised at Big LOts for $15. It is 36" X 24, can hang it on the door. Trying to find one even a foot less in size was around $60. Even if I built one, the drop down hinges alone would cost more than $15. So, I do go to BL and check on their stuff when an ad shows up with an item of interest (auto emails). Although the store has gotten more expensive for less than more as once was. A couple of weeks ago I went back to a store to find additonal curtains already bought and they no longer carried them. Wandering around BL, there they were, at 1/3 what I'd originally paid for them. The place can make me nuts with all the mess and many times I walk out without buying anything....but sometimes they do have a bargain hidden. Problem with finding this stuff is I always wonder if I should buy more than one, just in case, since the cost is so low. There have been many times I should have bought more when finding the item was well worth it, other uses or loved and wear it out. Like a pair of jeans that is worn 80% of the time. Guess that is the ole' sale issue...get a great price to save money and then buy more than planned which means I really didn't save money, just spent more and then have to find room which isn't there in our smaller home. In reality, unless I see something out of the blue, my shopping and garage sale hopping went away long ago. Too many things were coming home with me. So I'm not a bargain shopper per se unless something jumps in front of me and it is an item needed. I do hate buying full price though and lean towards sales. And I've mentioned Habitat stores before ...my favorite for remodeling. But volunteer there, so the jump in front of me happens rather than shopping....See MoreI can't seem to make any progress with decorating.......anyone else?
Comments (25)Relax everyone. Take a deep breath. It doesn't need to be done in a day. The best rooms and houses evolve over time and are a continuing journey. Only on HGTV does everything have to be done before you move in. The best thing is to find something with color you love. For me in both my condo I just sold and in the house I'm hoping to build (don't ask!), I chose my busy granite first and everything in terms of color will work from that. It may be a wallpaper you love, a fabric, a vase with the colors you love, a rug, a favorite chair, or even a painting. Then just choose pieces you LOVE. If you choose what you love, it will all work together....See Morejterrilynn
