Sons by Pearl S. Buck

At long last I have finished Sons, the second book in Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth trilogy. Something propelled me to finish it but I found it puzzling, somewhat disjointed and ultimately interminable. It seemed only to focus on the third son, Wang the Tiger. 300 pages of Wang the Tiger, Wang the Tiger, Wang the Tiger, coming at you in slow concentric circles. Such a let down after The Good Earth but I will try again, perhaps with The Pavilion of Women or The Child Who Never Grew.

Am also still plodding along with George in Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis, but he'll have to wait while I take up In The Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant and Endurance by Alfred Lansing, which is the story of Sir Ernest Shackleton's ill fated Antartic expedition.
