how do you keep track of books read?

A little bit older, a little bit wiser, a little more memory lost!

I usually think I can pick up a book, read the description and open it to a random page and figure out whether it's familiar and whether I've read it.

But now that's not been so easy! (The latest problem "series" being Diane Mott Davidson's culinary mysteries--I know I've read a few, but from the Amazon descriptions/reviews, who knows which ones!)

So how do you track what you've read, what you want to read, what you started to read but tossed aside for the used-book sale? Would be nice to find an online site that helps you set up a registry (a lot easier than keeping a notebook of the stuff).

Currently I keep a list of want-to-reads in the 'organizer" portion of my cellphone. But that's pretty much out of memory space, and there'd be no room for anything but stuff for the future.
