Has anyone read her? She used to have a column in one of the women's magazines every month and also wrote books. Her fiction books are mainly for young adults, I think, but the non-fiction are about her farm called Still Meadow, where she lived with a friend, also widowed, and her home on Cape Cod. She writes about her garden, her house, her animals, etc. The columns in one of the books I have date from the mid 1930's to the mid 1970's.
If you like a good gentle read, I recommend her highly.
