We've been to the Newport Flower show a few times when it first started 11 years ago. I remember the lectures were quite good so do check the schedule and plan to attend a lecture. The vendors set up on the lawn of the Rosecliff mansion and there were some interesting ones. The mansion had flower arrangements set up throughout and had some judged portions. Of course the scale is much smaller than RI or other flower show (so set your expectations correctly). I think it is worth going. We used to go to Newport every year for a weekend or two and often planned when to go based on this show or the Secret Garden tour. Now with the high costs to stay there we don't get there as often. It's too bad because there is so much to do in Newport: great restaurants, cultural exhibits, the mansions, shops, etc. For those interested the Secret Garden Tour of the historic Point section gardens is happening this weekend June 16, 17 and 18th. That sounds amazing, mad_gallica! I wondered what would happen to the branches that had reached the ground. That’s awesome that they continue to grow after the main tree is gone. You know, my first thought was how cool it must have been to grow up with a tree like that. But then, duh, of course the tree didn’t get big enough to climb and scamper about on until the original owners were well into their geriatric phase. It was nice that the tour guide for Chateau Sur Mer encouraged all the guests before they left to “part the branches of the weeping beech” and see the magic inside. She was right! They encouraged us to enjoy it.

Delilah, if you can get a decent deal to Providence/Green airport it's 1000 times easier to navigate than Logan. Magdalena - we have family in Little Compton and you might be able to find a cute place there. It's very charming but might be a bit of a drive on Labor day weekend though.

The old wall fan could stand a replacing but maybe those are pretty functional and youdon’t want to mess around w it? A better venting hood might give a better cooking experience in case that’s a goal. Base cab drawers goes without saying ...and single basin sink with a nudge of dishwasher to the left , out of the corner, a few inches....then I’d move fridge to the left on that wall and place either pantry cab on right side but probably cabinet and counter there on the end For landing. Spend on French door fridge. An appliance package generally would be an upgrade but budget has to be determined ...those base drawers are not the cheapest.
