The Hobbit is the one crossover book, I think. Everyone's read that! Or at least it was the "one", until Lord of the Rings made it to the big screen. I cannot get my son who loves fantasy and scifi to read it. The entire series is sitting on mthe livingroom table from last year's birthday. We will see it just as we've seen the other movies. That's where my friend (from childhood. We grew up together, military) Charlie lives. He makes movies. He fell in love with the place when he went there to work for Peter on the first LOR movie. He doesn't make those movies any more. He was working on the bloody Spartacus tv stuff, but that series is no longer airing. Wonder what he'll do next? He has beautiful children with his native wife. BinsB How GREAT! I'd guess by now the 'kids' are knocking from the outside - yes? Paleese post a pic if you can. We'd all (I'm sure) love to see your accomplishments :-))) after waiting soooo long. Love the orange colors of the nursery but mmm - are they really going to sleep in one crib? :-)) Just kidding. When you have time, which likely won't be for awhile I'm sure, would love to see the nursery with the paper flowers, et al. Not to worry about the non-span house of present. It's the spirit inside that can carry it thru. Imagine what a tough time I have in my location. LOL!! You'll have lotsa fun (when/if you can find the time) doing some special stuff in your new abode. Trop - hmmm pictures this year? LOL! That will be fun to see. I'll look forward (but won't hold my breath too awfully long). :-))) I'm thinking maybe you just eliminated the kitchen altogether and are doing take out now? Houseful it's great to have you posting again. Perhaps you can help us breathe some life back into this thread as I know Bins is going to be rather busy over the next while. :-)) If it weren't for her dedication, I'm sure this thread would no longer exist. I have a few things on my plate but hopefully they will be resolved shortly and I can return to my decorating love. I have read about the technology used to produce many of the scenes. The director and his staff used a few new tricks and I want to see the results. Tricky technical controls were used; Two sets of cameras were slaved together on 2 different sets and each scene shot simultaneously. One set was a 'green screen' setup. Later, figures from the green scene were imposed on the other scene. Another piece of trickery was used to make the Wizard appear larger than the Hobbits even though the actors were normal sized persons. The usual way to do this by perspective could not be used; A new method was devised. I'm hoping the movie is as good as advertised. I was never a fan of the Hobbit story line, but did find it had a certain amount of charm and imagination. In the first Hobbit movie, a new technique was pioneered for the weird character, Golum. It is my understanding that the same actor was used for this remake.
