The Hobbit

Anyone goes see this movie yet? I heard it is three hours long and was going to go this afternoon but changed my mind for now. I will go eventually.

I thought about going last night. We were in Lexington, took the kids to sing at the hospital I work at...then we went to the mall. By the time we got out we just wanted to eat so we did...I started to feel really sleepy and worn out so we just went home. Looking forward to seeing it though.

The spots on the leaves are jus a water marks. If I may suggest something: in the long run, it would be better to keep jades separate from cacti and add perlite to the soil you are using. When potting up the plants, add little more potting mix so they are not sitting so much inside of the pot - it will improve air circulation around plants and also allow more light on your plants.

Wow!!! I *just* saw this!!!! That is seriously awesome. From what I can tell, it looks like each room is a little pod with windows, and then I assume there are windowless tunnels/hallways that connect each room? The only thing that made me go, "Uh, noooo," was the cold climate claim, lol. I saw all of that snow manicured around the home and thought, "You'd have to call a neighbor to dig you out." Unless you had in-swing doors and tile floors. Edited to add: Okay, so I was able to download one of the plans (darn Kindle), and it actually looks and functions just like a typical house, but buried. The rendition I saw had a play structure on top, and I thought, "What kid wouldn't get a kick out of playing on the roof?" Imagine the sled races in the winter!!!

you need a landscape designer on site. Giving a 3 year-old a running chainsaw and a 16 oz Red Bull would be less irresponsible than trying to design the proper solution based off a couple of photos.

The "The Lord of The Rings" trilogy was so good I'm afraid this one won't live up to my expectations. I went online and read some reviews and watched some trailers, it will be difficult to get used to the new characters. I wonder when Frodo will make an appearance, probably not until the third and final film? Elija Wood will reprise the role as far as I know only they didn't talk about that too much on the sites I visited.

DH will definitely want to see it next weekend. I'm sure we would have gone this weekend if he'd been home. I'm looking forward to it also, but not as much as him. I'm sure it'll be good, but it'll be hard for it to beat "The Lord of the Rings".

I have read about the technology used to produce many of the scenes. The director and his staff used a few new tricks and I want to see the results. Tricky technical controls were used; Two sets of cameras were slaved together on 2 different sets and each scene shot simultaneously. One set was a 'green screen' setup. Later, figures from the green scene were imposed on the other scene. Another piece of trickery was used to make the Wizard appear larger than the Hobbits even though the actors were normal sized persons. The usual way to do this by perspective could not be used; A new method was devised.

I'm hoping the movie is as good as advertised. I was never a fan of the Hobbit story line, but did find it had a certain amount of charm and imagination. In the first Hobbit movie, a new technique was pioneered for the weird character, Golum. It is my understanding that the same actor was used for this remake.

It seemed like the original Hobbit was the only movie my elementary school owned. In my "kid memories" we watched it EVERY time there was movie day at school (usually very bad weather and no recess for several days in a row). That movie always scared me.... so I have no plans to see it as an adult, lol. (I not longer have to be a polite kid who just sits there and gets the creeps just because a teacher said we were to watch the movie, lol)

I am one of those people who just don't like fantasy so don't plan to see it. I didn't see Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings for the same reason. Hope the rest of you enjoy it though.

I tried to read the book about 40 years ago and couldn't get into it. No interest in seeing the movie as I get fidgetty after about 90 minutes. Unless I hear lots of good things about The Hobbit, I'll wait for it to come on TV.
