Hi! I think that when it was in the compostible pot, it was drying out too fast. You probably shocked it when you cut the roots, in a compostible pot, you don't have to remove the pot, just stick it in the new one, and the peat will just desintegrate. where I live, mint takes a LOT of water. But you are colder so you may not want as much water. Instead of a schedule, it's better to feel the soil, if it's drying, it needs more, but if there is no drainage hole at the bottom of the pot, the roots might rot. Mint spreads, it's what it does best, so continuing to pot in a bigger pot is usually necessary, but you can do other things, one is, mint roots very easily, so when the plant gets crowded, you can cut a branch and stick it in water until it gets roots, then pot that up. In my experience, you can't over water mint, but I live in a climate like Southern Italy, so I don't know about your climate. Never fear, as long as you cut branches and put them in water, you will never lose your dear mint plant. :o)

How funny you guys are "down to" six! I'm "up to" six at a time, and broke down and brought out the old cheap feeder I had before I got one that was ant and bee resistant. Then two feeders weren't enough, when I swore I'd only have one, and I got another to space them out in the yard. Just yesterday, I saw two actually feeding together peacefully, at a truce. And if I saw six at a time there were probably more perching in trees, that I didn't see. Tomorrow night's a cold front. We'll be down to the 60s (it's been high 80s all week). I'm expecting that will shoo them away. I was watching them sipping tonight and am bracing myself to see nothing tomorrow. But don't worry, the feeders will stay fresh and the flowers will be blooming at least another month and a half!

I'll add your SIL, your DD and the kids to my prayers and thoughts too, for strength while he's gone and for his safe return home. I'm another who is grateful for the service and protection of these brave men and women and proud of them for their choices. Elery's nephew, Nathan, came home a couple of months ago, promptly "re-upped" and went back, he says what we are doing there is so important that he wants to continue to help. It's hard to let them go, and all we can do is wish them back safely when it's time. Annie

Hi everyone, wanted to post some updates! Amy and Brian, how are you both liking the cool weather? Thank you both for the cuttings that you sent me! Here are the Shiranui grafts: Brian, here are the Gold nugget grafts: Here's the Tango: It has been a week since I grafted them, looks like they took. Will update on Shasta and Valencia in the coming weeks. None of my Sugarbelle grafts took. Will have to take good care of the new grafts untill spring, looong time to get there :)
