This was a FANTASTIC book. I read it last year, but its still one of my favorites.

I usually just pick modern books out rather randomly; I usually dont know what im after. Sometimes, if I have the time, ill wander around the bookstore and pick them out by titles that sound interesting. But most times ill just pick one out as im on my way to the check-out. I glance at the back to see if it sound ok, and then get it. I get a lot of bad books this way...but this was not one of them.

Well this book sounded a bit odd, and not one id normally pick out. But I was in a parculiar mood and said to myself Why not?

I thought it would be kind of corny and dumb, but it was wonderful! The book was dark and intrigueing. The writing (not so much the plot itself) was what made it so spectacular. It was deep, intelegent, and mind provoking. Its the type of writing that kind of overwhelms the scenses.

Have you read it? If you havent then you must!

Bumping this up.... I have quite a long list of DL posters, all in alphabetical order (according to user names), but don't want to share it yet, in case more of you (newbies or oldies) want to add yourself to the list. You are soo right pamghatten!! Two daughters home from college made a "snap chat" story --posting a pic of 'ALL' the nativities they found in our home. They got to 50. They missed two that we know of. LOL!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I have always coveted the sets that have many many different shepherds, animals, etc. The Fontanini line is great for that!! Maybe if I had such a "complete" set one would be enough!!

Skibby - Yesterday I finished Birds in Fall by Brad Kessler, and like you, I can't stop thinking about it. I even had to back-off from starting another book last night because it was interfering with the warm, pleasant and calm feeling that Birds in Fall left me with. I wanted to keep that going for a while. As Skibby already mentioned in our September reading thread, the book is about a disparate group of people who come together at a B&B on an island off Nova Scotia to be near the site of a plane crash in which each of them lost a loved one. They are there to grieve, attend a memorial, and to claim whatever remains and personal belongings have been found in the waters surrounding the crash site. I am still marveling at the author's skill at providing such a pleasant, and even uplifting, reading experience about such a melancholic subject. I guess you can tell I really, really liked this book. Thank you for recommending it, Skibby.

Just demonstating how the lack or misuse of apostrophes and capital letters in the written language can scramble a message so that it becomes incomprehensible. That's all.

So you haven acutally read this book at all?
Your just writing to tell me my punctuation (and spelling!!!) isnt great? Lol, I knew that allready. I write only in perfect form when its important and absolutely neccisary...but I didnt think that a friendly chat about books had to be perfect in composition! (and if you were really going for perfection your first sentence could use a subject, such as 'I' followed by 'am')

No hard feelings though dido! You are very right about my punctuation. I will try to amend it where its relavant, but am not likely to bother about it when im just enjoying talking about hobbies and such. Thank you! :-)

I read this book last year and I also enjoyed it. It's the kind of book I would like to write if I could.

Dido-- Agreed (not on my being wonderful, about no hard feelings and life being too short)!

Deborah-- wasnt the writing superb? I loved how dark and intelligent it was! The plot was a little off-putting at first, but then I really got into it. Im going to see if the author has anymore books out.....

chris- yes, I really had no idea where it would go and I liked the mystical aspect of it- slightly magical but still with in 'believable' terms if that's possible. What I mean is that sometimes when I read books that involve magic many aspects are too unreal.

I dont know quite how to explain it either, but I totally agree with you that it was, in many respects, beliveable. I think it was because the author took her time in explaing 'how'and 'why' things happened, but still left some mystery in the origins of these mystical powers. I also thought the book was, in some ways, mind provoking, though it couldnt relate to our lives or modern ideas and actions at all.
