RP Discussion - The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie - Muriel Spark

Hi there.
Sorry I'm late with this - I couldn't start on time as my wife had borrowed the book, and hadn't finished it! (Well, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it...)
A fascinating little book, in my opinion.
A few questions:-
How did you feel about Jean Brodie? Did you feel that she wanted to do the best for her girls, or was this simply a way of trying to live through them? Was she completely self-deluded in her attitudes, or was she merely trying to manipulate her charges?
What about the men in the school? How did you feel that they behaved?
For those of you who have seen the film - How did you feel the changes in the film (particularly the end)? Did you, as I did, find yourself imagining Maggie Smith as Jean Brodie?
