OT: smoky book

Here's a question for you-

on Paperbackswap I request no smoky books-they set off my asthma and I just don't like the smell. However, there was an OOP title I have been looking for forever, at used sales, online-so, I caved and accepted a book from a smoker's home. NEVER AGAIN! phew. It is well and truly smoked. I could smell it when I opened up the mailbox, through three layers of wrapping paper. It has been outside on the covered porch, standing with the pages propped open, for almost a month, and it still stinks to high heaven. I've read all kinds of ways to rid it of the smell-but some of them scare me a little-using Febreez and the microwave with newspaper one in particular. The last thing I want to do is transfer the smell to the microwave. ugh. It took me long enough to find this book and I would like to save it, not kill it. Can anyone give me first-hand advice on a method that worked for them? I want to read the book!
