Bill, It your first point is that Jesus' teaching wasn't new but Jesus himself said "I didn't come to destroy the law but to fulfill it. The example of John the Baptist explains it best. Jesus went to John to be baptized to which John said, "Shouldn't you be baptizing me?" This shows that Jesus wanted to follow in the footsteps and in the traditions of those that had come before him even though he didnt need to. Later on, John the Baptist sent his disciples to Jesus to ask him, "are you the one or should we wait for another?" to which Jesus basically replied, "See what I am doing?" In other words, wasn't what Jesus was doing proof enough? Then Jesus turned to the crowd and explained that although John was the greatest man ever born the least of those born into the kingdom of God was greater then he. The kingdom of God was what Jesus was preaching about. That is a fulfillment of the law and profits and was a new concept of the love and mercy of God that not even John the Baptist was expecting. John was expecting Jesus to condem but this is not what he did. Jesus was a harbinger of new grace to be given to man that would help man to live to higher standards. These are especially outlined in the parables but a good non-parabolic example is Jesus' teaching of the permanence of marriage. Greg

I changed the entrance of my shower tub. The panel board was moldy; water was getting in between the top tiles and the panel board. the joint was not well sealed. I put new everything for the entrance, even a membrane between the plywood and the tiles. However, it seems to leak from the wall now. Water is coming out of the wall outside the shower tub. Would it be the grout, tiles...? Tiles and grout are probably 20+ yrs old ( turquoise tiles). I tried to put some ready grout ( in a tube), but it still leaks! Calking is well done. Should I remove the old grout and put new one everywhere? Thanks for your help!

may_flowers: My analytical mind explodes thinking about backsplashes! The rules I follow are: 1. Functional , and 2. Timeless,and 3. What my wife says -- (oh, she made me add that) 1.While I like bold statements, I also hate following fads. It is true, it is impossible to make a kitchen "timeless", but I say try anyway. This is hard earned money you're putting into the remodel and unless you're made of money who wants to tear a backsplash it out in 5 year because it looks dated? Almost every backsplash on gardenweb is what I would consider the opposite of timeless. Glass back-pained tiles, mosaics, etc.. Often these clash or distract from other materials. Granite counters with large movement plus a pattern backsplash is too busy in my opinion. People feel compelled to make the backsplash a feature for some reason, and they like to use every possible material choice in the same room which looks distracting. Do something different than the rest of the crowed and it will stand on its own and have a less dated feel. 2. I prefer the backplash to be functional, which means (A) easy maintenance to wipe down, fewest grout lines. and (B) assists with the lighting goals of your lighting design. If you need to lighten the kitchen or reflect light with UCL, consider this in surface finish and shade as well. I really like backpainted plate glass (large sheets, not tiles), but that ends up quite expensive. I also like stainless steel or brushed aluminum sheet metal, which can be durable and attractive, but without a major distraction. We ended up doing the same material & color as our countertop (quartz) to add light to the space, and because there are no grout lines it is super durable. It fades into the background, and is not a feature. It's also hard to offend anyone for resale purposes. Call it "safe" and boring, but I prefer to add color in less expensive ways-- fruit bowls, art, pottery. Stuff you can change easily as styles change, and take with you when you move.

Well, Serafina, I love the slightly grey look of your tiles . . . very chic and interesting with your black and white. I was going to mention what smilingjudy did . . . that magazines etc. are showing a lot of gray and yellow together and have been for a year or so. I know because I was looking for gray carpeting and have had fits finding it. I can't figure out why I see it everywhere except the carpet stores! I know how hard it is to readjust your vision when you have a picture in mind. I've had to do it on several issues in this house, and it's HARD. I suspect most home-builders/remodelers run into this at one level or another. A couple of mine have been pretty big "levels" and I've had a real struggle: Learn to like it or spend literally thousands of $$ to change it. Only you can make that decision, but I think the color combination you have going is going to be very WOW. Arlene
