If you can integrate the 'california cooler' into your designs, you should keep it, and not just to preserve the historical integrity. It's a handy and ecologically correct way to store root vegetables and coming back into style. Neither would I remove original built-ins unless they are just plain pug ugly. It's very much a part of the charms of that era. The dumb waiter? I've never seen one kept original in my area, but have seen and used laundry chutes. I've heard they are considered a possible fire hazard however.

I left somethings in the nightstand drawer when my sister and I were in Las Vegas this past summer, when my Mom passed away. It was mostly costume jewlery but they called my sister in Canada to let her know. The room was in her name. The items were taken to the security area in the casino and she had to fax an ok for the security people to release it to one of my parents neighbors. They were kind enough to offer to go and pick it up for me..... and I got it from them on my next trip out there. I think after a few years it might be too late though. I'm surprised the hotel management didn't call you if they found it..... but it might not have been turned in. I was lucky.

I am really liking the "like" option. Many times I agree with a particular posters comment but don't care to comment myself or have anything to add. I am curious if when I "like" someones post if they get a notification! Won't someone please "like" me so I can test that?? aka rtwilliams
