Growing down a retaining wall

Good morning.

I'm new to this forum, although a member of other non-garden forums. Please let me know if I breach any rules of etiquette here.

I'm live to the west of Paris; light, well drained soil. Climate pretty much akin to SE UK.

I am seeking suggestions for plant cover to hang down a NW facing retaining wall, about 10ft long by 6ft high. It was previously covered by a vigorous, large-leaf, dense but otherwise featureless ivy, which I removed when the terrace above the wall was relaid. There is a concreted terrace at the base of the wall, which rules out growing anything up it.

*Ideally* I would like summer flowering (as long as possible as the wall encloses a sheltered seating area), preferably scented. A honeysuckle seems an obvious option. I have also wondered about a herbaceous clematis, although I question whether this would give sufficiently thick cover.

Would anyone have any other suggestions that I could consider.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Roger
