LOL If I were going to do a project like this I'd first take lots and lots of pics of the garden from all directions. Sometimes one sees things in pics one doesn't see IRL. I'd also look at lots of pics online for inspiration and ideas. Here's a site with lots of pics which might help. Just identify individual features you like in each pic. Eventually you will form a larger pic in your mind which is your own unique garden style. After all, we Aquarians don't follow directions well! This is a huge project so if you are going to DIY it is best to do it in stages IMO. The first stage for me would be a center bed for the statue or fountain. Then I'd walk around and decide where the paths work best. I've been doing this in my garden now even with snow on the ground and have formed several new ideas. After that you can design each separate garden area. If you like a formal look it will have to be fairly symmetrical. Since your area is not level it will likely be easier to do a more relaxed and asymmetrical garden. I like purple's idea of a pinwheel. Mary lu's gorgeous garden is a wonderful inspiration and the paths are curved. It also looks as if Mary lu's entire garden is on a gentle slope. If you have a steeper slope you may have to use retaining walls or at least low terraces and perhaps stairs.

Thanks, marquest. I guess I want to know if the search process here can be refined. I have searched often with the search box. Using the search box gives me every use of the members name, including in references by others and all follow up posts by them, as well as all posts they initiated. Can I limit the search to just initial posts by a given member? Maybe searching through Google is better. It certainly turns up listings for subjects here that I don't get with the GW search. Maybe a generic search is the only way to do it here. It isn't that hard to scroll down and look for posts initiated by the individual in question.

I knew you'd find something! I'm going to order 4 of those Tommy Bahama chairs right not - NOT! Problem is, I don't think we can/should use natural materials on this porch. We had sea grass chairs at our old house, sold them before we moved and I know that's not a good material here. This is a big covered porch but we get wind driven rain here frequently. I had wood chairs out there for a short time and could see they would never last. That's why the Ballard chairs seem so perfect - man made resin wicker and powder coated metal, not just painted. I'm not even sure natural rattan would last but I've never owned any. May just have to take the table legs down 1 or 2" and open up my options. Or bite the bullet, pay full retail (shudder) and wait for the Ballard back order which means a summer without chairs. Thanks so much for sleuthing on my behalf.
