Autumn flowering plants over bulbs

Hi I have just planted up two small beds with 300 tete-a-tete bulbs, and have realised I will be looking at bare soil for the next few months. Would it be O.K to overplant the beds with something like viola's or pansies so I have a bit of colour or will it stop the daff's coming up.

If it is O.K, what would you reccomend and can you reccomend any good mail order suppliers for the U.K.

Also can any tell me have many viola's or pansies you would need to plant to fill a square foot, as I can never judge how many plants I need to buy !
