Apple Tree Problems

We have inherited a mature Bramley Apple tree in the garden of a house we recently moved into. We were warned by the previous owner that it needed pruning but he hadn't got around to it.

Last year it dropped apples all through the summer, rather than waiting for the end of the season.

We got it pruned, but it seems to be doing the same this year. It started about a month ago, and is still doing it. The apples are fairly small so I'm assuming they are not ripe.

Or are they? Is it normal for it to do this? I was led to believe that it is normal for it to dump a load of apples in early summer, and then nothing until late summer when the apples are ready.

Are we doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with the tree. I admit I know nothing about gardening.

In what month should the apples be ready to eat, and should they all be ready at one time?

Thanks
