It is simply a named form of redtip photinia, Photinia x fraseri, and other than a more compact size, is unlikely to be significantly different from that hybrid which is found commonly here in the US. At any rate, it will doubtfully be hardy for you in zone 6 and will likely experience serious dieback each winter even if the roots survive. This is typically listed as a zone 8/9 plant although I'd expand that to protected locations in zone 7. Forestfarm Nursery has carried it and may still do so.

Hmmmmm... Getting rid of: Liriope muscari; they were controllable early on, but geez, did they spread! Too many unmanagable clumps lining the bed in the front of the house (maybe 10). I removed 3 last year and replaced with salvias. Much better ;) Rose of Sharon (lilac/red throat); really don't like it, never did, but I can't throw anything out. Will relocate to work ;) Already purchased a Hibiscus coccinea to replace it; yippee! Wants?: I'm getting into red. I never liked red flowers, but since I'm getting more hummers each year (well, this will be my third year), I want to keep them happy. I've already moved alot of my plants around, last year, and moved other hummer favorites in. I'm already trying to figure out what else I need to move and what else I can fit in! I think my veggie garden may soon be a thing of the past; it's right next to my hummer area, so it's taking up some valuable real estate! I want my Monarda "Jacob Cline" to become invasive! I also wish I had some better areas for vines. I purchased a Coral Honeysuckle, but I don't know where I can possibly put it, that it'll thrive and climb.

Cooler summers LOL! It's hard to imagine anywhere hotter then here in the summer. But at least our summer nights get cooler then some other places, and I think Phoenix is one of them. Yes, I am talking about the original Japanese one. I bought a 3 gallon on special for $7.50 and when I took it home I divided it to get two plants! What a deal! I plan on letting it grow pretty naturaly without pruning for tailored shrubs like is usually done with them. Since it will only get about 15 feet (I have read about others around 30 feet in other parts of the country), I think I will plant it close to my patio on the east side. But it will have full all day direct sun and provide some shade to the patio.

The dwarf murraya, murraya paniculata 'mini-man', or photinia 'red-robin', though if it's a hot spot the murraya might be the best. The photinia looks good with its red tips but it will require more regular pruning to keep it in shape. The dwarf murraya will grow to a max. height of 2 to 3 metres (less than the maximum height of photinia), has finer leaves and grows a bit slower requiring less pruning. You could also consider the new(ish) syzygium 'resistance' (psylid resistant) native, which I have in and is growing fairly quickly, but the quicker they grow the more pruning required to maintain size.
