Hi all
I remember and celebrate this date every year since it was the 'first day of spring' once upon a time - and there have been some 2nd Febs when spring did indeed feel on the way.
However in spite of trying to be positive the deep snow covering London and environs at the moment has lowered my spirits somewhat.
I still love February for its greening of the trees, its visual promise of full flowering daffodils, crocuses. grape hyacinths etc. and for its never failing 2 or 3 days of warm late s[ringlike days - they will come again I know this month.
Today is also celebrated as Candlemas and Groundhog day so if you are celebrating any festival wishing you all the best.
Just finished Austerlitz, and The Reader (again), and 'The Man Who Invented Hitler - a fascinating study of european psychology in the early C20.
As a great relaxing read I really loved the page-turner 'Company of Liars' did anyone read it? Also 'The Forgotten Garden'
Best wishes
love Jan
