Author Obsession

Can't go a day without a book. When I find an author who writes in the style I love, I'm hooked. Sometimes I can control myself and spread them amoung other reads and sometimes I have to read them all one after the other, like eating a bag of chips!!

Have just finished all of Dorothea Benton Frank's books on Low Country, I especially liked "The Last Mango Sunset". Have practically started a DBF book circle with friends passing along their finished books.

Her way with a Southern phase is quite funny. One great example was, "it's as hot as two rats having sex in a wool sock." My daughter and I were clearing out the attic on a sweltering hot summer day and when I read that phrase later in the day, my daughter went up to the attic and wrote it on a beam in big black letters! I've never been to Low Country but now feel I have. It is now on the travel agenda.

Then I found Elin Hilderbrand who lives and writes on Nantucket, one of my favorites places in the world. I know it well and Hilderbrand has it down.

Other obsessions have been Jan Karon, Miss Read, MC Beaton's Agatha Raisin, Ann Rivers Siddons, Katherine Hall Page just off the tope of my head.

What are yours?
