Hi Though i grow PL in pots none are on the house They are located in dappled light fern bed or in the shadehouse .I use two methods one enriched soil second in sand in standing water in a shady marsh garden, They invaribly flower in spring though have noted that a temp drop will often spur flowers. Don't know if that would help you or not ?? Since I use them as garden plants they experience down to frost over the year . Seems to me they flower more heavily from this, short of a hard freeze. that is fatal. lol gary

I have had good luck with my Amorphophallus Konjac, all four bloomed this year. When I bought them they were 2in across, next year 5in, next year 9in and 14lb... bloomed in the early summer. Two plants were polinated by the flies, who is the daddy? I do not know, but I plan on sowing the seeds to try and find out. I use a high quality potting soil, lots of sun, water and MSU fertilizer at 150ppm (as that is what I had on hand). Mine needed an ocasional spray to control mites and I had to pick off japanese beetles. At the end of summer the grey furry tree rats broke up the foliage.

Hydrangeas sold at grocery stores - like Trader Joe's - are manipulated into bloom at an early age and often, out of season. Once they have finished up with the flowers and buds they come with, they are done for that season.....and maybe even for a couple of seasons. They need time to establish in the garden and put on some maturity before they can be expected to flower again and to produce flowers of typical size. In zone 9/10, winterkill of buds is not an issue but the previous comments about pruning times are relevant. If you want a hydrangea expected to produce flowers consistantly and of "normal" size, purchase a plant intended for the landcape from a nursery or garden center. Grocery store hydrangeas, aka florist's hydrangeas, are intended as blooming houseplants or gift plants, although they can usually be transitioned into the garden well.....given time :-)

My sympathies on the damage. I remember you posting about pruning it in the past. Hopefully, with its good root system, it will recover well and bloom again soon.
