Salt dosage for a fantail goldfish-cat bite

Wonder if anyone can help.

Basically a lady three doors away arrived at my door Thursday with a large fantail goldfish of mine in a carrier bag which her cat had removed from our pond. It seemed as dead as dead can be with many many scales missing a quite a large hole on it's side. Anyway she said sorry and we spoke for 5 minutes. Anyway I was just about to throw it in our bin when I decided to place it in a bucket of water. It just floated so I grabbed it and shook it and it started to breeth. Anyway it is currently in a serious but stable condition in an aquarium which I have added a general tonic to and some salt.

I really dont know what to do with the hole in the fishes body so if anyone can suggest something please do.

As regards salt a shop suggested adding 9 grams per litre over a number of days to help the fishes osmotic pressure etc. Trouble is other sources say this is to much salt to treat the fish with as it shouldnt be more than 3 grams per litre.

Obviously I dont want to make the fish worse by over doing it.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks in advance.
