A lot of these are the same as suggestions above 1) Maianthemum canadense, Canada Mayflower, probably. 2) Wild Lettuce, maybe 3) Cut Leaved Toothwort, Cardamine concatenata 4) Jewelweed seedlings, Impatiens capensis or pallida 5) Lonicera something, some vining honeysuckle 6) Maybe Teasel 7) Veronica spp 8) Chickweed, maybe Stellaria graminea 9) ?Wild Cucumber Vine? 10)? Waterleaf, Hydrophyllum, need to see the leaves Vicia cracca, Cow Vetch, or something similar. Geranium maculatum, Wild Geranium Buttercups, Ranunculus spp The leaf and flower aren't from the same plant. The leaf is some kind of Potentilla, I think, and the flower is a Hawkweed, probably King Devil, Hieraciujm caespitosum because of the black hairs. Another Geranium, maybe? Wild blue Phlox, Phlox divaricata A sedge, maybe Carex intumescens WW

First one is definitely Maianthemum dilatatum. It grows wild in my woods in the drier, shady areas. I like it very much. The next three pictures look like Ranunculus acris, Meadow Buttercup. It grows up to about three feet high when not trampled as shown. R. repens, Creeping Buttercup, generally has a fuller leaf, although shade could be influencing that. Both can be a real problem in hardy geranium ground covers. (Ask me how I know that!) The last picture could certainly be digitalis pupurea. Hard to tell with just one sick leaf. It also grows wild here, and for the most part, very enjoyable. The Buttercups and Foxgloves are originally from Europe and have found a happy home in a very remote location in coastal British Columbia, Canada and in my garden. I don't mind the Foxgloves, but weed out the buttercup whenever I see it. Mike

Ann in an earlier post asked some questions that haven't been addressed so I might give that a feeble bash... I think all the plants mentioned are alright except for the oxlips, they are I think out of step, as I'm not sure you would see them in flower after May month... ...but I'm not convinced they need to be blooming, just they exist and thrive there, but surely it's poetic license all round isn't it? considering it's a Greek play, and the immortal verse places this wooded bank near Athens, - Athenian Titania sleeps there, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't find oxlips in southern Europe. The rest you could though, and if the bank was exclusively Greek, then I would favour R. moschata for the musk roses, but I think it must have been written to relate to an English audience and his own experience of musky roses I suppose would be R. arvensis, or howsoever he knew that rose... I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine. There sleeps Titania sometime of the night, Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight.. ..does this make any sense or should I go back to sleep?...
