I have an unidentified species rose that reproduces easily from seed. One suggestion was that it is laxa, the rootstock. As a California gardener, I don't encounter laxa very much. I've posted some shots and would appreciate an suggestions of its identity.

The stipules are dilated, often folding back. This foliate bract gives the idea:

The plant is tall and arching, canes about 8 feet tall, hips oval, red and plentiful. Once blooming. Canes tend to sunburn.
