If your Olive and Phoebe don't hate each other, I'd give it a go. I've had two blind dogs as senior foster dogs--a shih-tzu and a chihuahua. The chihuahua we kept until she passed away, the shih-tzu got adopted by a lovely couple. No idea how old they were when they lost their eyesight, both were blind when I met them. Total lovebugs and they did fine getting around the house. We never took them upstairs due to risk of children leaving a door open and granny dogs tumbling down the stairs. They both held their own/ruled the roost with our large, active younger dogs in the house. The chihuahua was touchy with our larger dogs at first, but as soon as she realized they were not going to boss her, she made friends with them. Both of these pups were well housetrained and did well finding their way back into the house from the (fenced) yard. My friend fosters for a blind dog rescue and she has had lots of blind fosters. They have all been happy and gotten adopted!

That is an wonderful story and I can see Art Garfunkel doing that, he always seemed to have a gentle and caring soul. I loved Simon and Garfunkel's music back when they were most popular, and still do. My singer/musician nephew-in-law posted this story on Facebook yesterday, so I got to enjoy it twice. It's such a good story everyone should read it more than once !

One spring we had a Robin take offense to a cellar window. The window was below grade, in a window well. You wouldn't think a bird would want to get in a below grade window well to smack itself against glass! The best part was the window was directly below the master bedroom, and so every morning it was lovely (ahem) to be woken by a bird beating itself senseless against a window.... For something so small, they can make a heck of a noise. We ended up buying a plastic window well cover and solved that problem. Until he moved on to my prettiest windows in the house - my living room windows, overlooking my beloved garden and water feature. It was lovely (ahem) to have my windows constantly smeared with mud and whatnot from Mr. or Mrs. Robin as they fought themselves in that window. Plus the constant sound of it was great too. We tried so many things. The only thing that worked was taping cardboard up over the window, on the outside of the house. That looked really nice.... Then he/she finally left and I was so happy. Until the next spring, one morning I woke up to hear the familiar sound of bird body being flung against a window. That Robin either finally got bored with my house or perhaps is no longer with us. :-) Now I have a blue grosbeak who has been fascinated with a few windows in my sunroom, all blessed summer. At least that's on the backside of the house so no one else but me generally sees the bird smears....

Thank you for starting this thread, Bunny ... and thank you all for sharing with us! I was having a rough go the day this was posted .. it would have been my dad's 84th birthday and the next night, 5 years ago, he had a fall and a traumatic head injury that caused his death. It still takes my breath away but I am so very thankful that we chose to break all covid rules and celebrate his birthday with him -- outside. He was so happy to see family and I am so happy to have those joyful memories. Still ... those few days are hard every year. So thank you-- you all DID make my days a little brighter.
