'Warm Welcome' climber

I have a beautiful climber called Warm Welcome growing up a tripod in my back garden. It is about 10 feet high and occupies an open sunny spot. Last year it developed some black spot(not too bad)but this year all but the top leaves have been badly affected, many dropping to the ground. This hasn't affected its blooms at all but it does look sad at the bottom end and when you view it up close. I have sprayed it with a good all round fungicide. Is there anything else I can do? I usually give my roses a second feed in June but will this produce any new leaves this summer or will I have to wait until next year? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

hello there, if it was my rose then I would consider making sure it is well watered, a bucket of water once a week say, and do feed it. I would suggest also changing the make of fungicide you use from time to time, so that the disease doesent build up an immunity to the fungicide. Try to gather all the fallen infected leaves and burn them, and continue to gather them as they fall in the autumn so that the disease spores cant multiply. And most importantly, sing the dear rose a song and tell her how much you love her. Works for me!

I know its not into the 90s and above and I'm hoping it will be willing to repeat at those temps. Even so, it's not going to be a spring and fall only show like lovely Kathryn Morely. Cinderella Fairy Tale and Pomponella had blooms at the same time so it was a good housewarming party for our newest Kordes shrub. Sometimes the heat just pounds us after a period of low pressure cool temps. so I'm hoping this rose can take it. The cool weather stimulates flower production and then the heat comes and fries them.

Rose Obelisk Advice. Iceberg: Bush or Climber?

I have a 7.5 foot iron rose obelisk on which I'd like to grow an Iceberg rose. I'm in a warm/hot inland valley in Los Angles (SFV) where Iceberg roses do fantastically well. I'm just uncertain about which way to go. Option 1. Use a bush form of Iceberg planted inside the obelisk and just keep pruning back side shoots to fill the space. Pros (as I see it) Easy. Probably neat appearance. Cheap. And I think in my climate the bush form would easily fill the space. Cons? Would I fail to get blooms down below if I just grew a bush form upright? Option 2. Use an Iceberg climber and laboriously train the canes in a barber-shop pole type style around the outside. Pros. I expect it would bloom like crazy. Cons. More work (I'm willing). But would it look like a mess? Any advice welcome. I've never grown a rose in this fashion.
