Lime green chrysanthemums - are they real?

Where can I get chrysanthemum plants with lime green flowers?

I've seen them for sale everywhere as cut flowers - florists, flower stalls, M&S etc - but I've never seen seed or plants for sale.

Are they really that colour or have they been dyed? I know they dye white ones blue, however these are pretty obvious. The green ones look genuine to me though.

There are zinnias with green blossoms, for sure. I think the best place to find out if there are any green chrysanths might be with one of the breeders or nurseries who specialise in them. Harry Lawson or Peter Fraser websites may be able to help you on locating them or telling you more information about them.

Yes they are real and yes they are for sale as plants in the UK now - saw them at the Chelsea Flower Show this week and ordered 6 different varieties of green:D

Company is called Chrysanthemums Direct and they ask Â£2.00 per plant and Â£3.95 delivery. 10% discount on more than 10 plants.

Hi Kitkat: I, too, have lusted after green mums, but have found no seeds anywhere. I think you have to buy plants. The only place I have heard of is ??? Kings mums???? somewhere in the states. I am in canada so could never get them up here, anyways, what with plant quarantine restrictions, and such. A company, called Yoder, also sells mums, but only in big quantities. There is a green mum called kermit. I did try taking cuttings about three weeks ago, off a green spider mum that I got from costco, and I did get a couple of roots, but have not checked it since to see if there is any top growth . Hey, it was a long shot. I found that the green mum (kermit) that I had, bloomed very, very late, past any useful date for me (mid november?) best of luck in your search Maplea

Rose, My parents used to grow and sell chryssie's. I recall getting the tips and propogating them however never the main flower stem. If you have any sideshoots they should be ok. They were soft tip cuttings we used. As Dee says just take a cutting but it only needs to be about 10cm long at the most. Remove all lower leaves (leave hardly any on just the stem is enough) and pop them in mix. We used a mix that was mostly very small pebbles and sand about 4-5cm deep so the water drained through and they all struck easily in glasshouses... Goodluck Garry

I like the tiles better after their close up. I love blue, so I would do them with blue -- and agree that navy or deeper blue so the room has a calmer feel. A brighter blue would give a much higher energy to the room. Down the road, I think you will find them to be pretty versatile. Just not as easy to work into a club feeling.

NHBabs, thank you for thinking of me. I will see if I can find Bobo and White Diamond. They both look like options. I would sure like to plant this fall, but finding them & securing enough plants at this date may be hard. I may have to wait til spring now. Thank you so much for all your help. Enjoy your weekend.

They are definately real I grew them last year and rather fabulous they looked too (even if I do say so myself!) I think I got them from sarah raven who reccomends them for floristry but you'll probably find them at other specialist nurseries. I'll try and add the link....
