If you wait until next Autumn/Fall, they will go soft and die. The best thing to do would be to plant them asap, knowing that they are starting behind the 8 ball, so to speak, but at least they are in soil and can start to do their thing. If any have green shoots, plant the shoots above the soil. Just think of this planting as being a little different to what you would have liked, but hey, their next planting can be more to their liking.

in my MI ... i get a good show on cherry every third year or so ... most of the flowering shrubs and trees went absolutely nuts this year.. with the mild winter.. and early spring .... with little of no frost or freeze ... so you are correct that a cold event can be part of your problem .... that said.. my cherry has been in decline for the last few years ... they are can be a rather short lived tree .. when you are talking in tree time terms .. without pix.. it is impossible to tell you much about the status of yours .... since you did have a significant frost or freeze.. there isnt much you can do.. but give it time.. to see how it recovers.. if it does .. by mid to late summer ... you would start cutting out dead stuff ... and then it will come to a decision on your part.. if what is left.. is worth looking at ... how about a pic or 3 ... ken ps: BTW .. sending out shoots or suckers down low.. is a sign of a severely stressed or dying tree in some cases ... it MIGHT mean.. the canopy above is in severe decline .. and it is trying to replace such from down low ... it MIGHT not be a good sign.. as you think .... which just bring me back to pix .... do note all the qualifications ... pps: no matter what.. the tree is not hungry.. and fert or food.. is not a cure all ...

A few years ago (2016) I planted some allium bulbs. They were allium Giganteum, allium Gladiator, allium Purple sensation, alllium Mount Everest and allium sphaerocephalon. I planted them in October. The next year all of them flowered except for a. sphaerocephalon. I thought it needed some time to establish. I let them go to seed. This year, only a few Purple sensation flowered, no signs of any white Mount Everest, no signs of Giganteum nor Gladiator. Sphaerocephalon hasn't flowered yet. I fear they are lost. Could it be they are dormant this year? Did they die off? I also bought a. moly, a. caeruleum and a. oreophilum last year and planted them in late fall (December) as the soil was workable and no freezing temperatures. This spring only a few of them flowered although I planted 10 of each. As with my alliums I always leave leaves on, never tear them off. I live in a city so no special animals. No voles nor mice. There are a lot of slugs, though. I have a sandy loam, neutral soil. Climate is something between oceanic and Mediterranean with hot (sometimes dry sometimes humid) summers and dry winters with the lowest temp. - 12 degrees C (around 11 F). (I won't post any photos because this is the third time I am posting this so something is apparently glitched.) Thanks for replies in advance
