To all: Got wooden pole replaced with 3/4 conduit, I've capped the conduit and have put Vaseline on pole, I also modified the bird house a little for the summer residence, this will make it cooler. I've tried this roof a couple years in the past and it hasn't bother them and as far as I know they have never got wet either. Now its just a matter of time to see if they show up again to occupy, I've seen the male, and a few others, but I'm not sure whether the female is with him. Most of the time I see them toward the west with the sun in my eyes. Keith

So what's the hubbub all about? As death rates in auto's goes, something has to be 1st, or last, however you want to phrase it. I'd bet the difference in odds in getting killed between the safest and the least safe vehicles are the same as buying one lottery ticket or a few more. Purchase two, three, or ten, you have better odds of winning, but not that much better. The problem is with the title which may be accurate, but imo can the wrong impression. So you have a blazer. Your odds of getting killed in it are 1 million to 308. What are your odds of not making it to the next morning from any cause on any given day? Somewhere around 100k to 1? Using stats that way, you'd better keep your butt inside that blazer forever if you have one because the odds of death increases if you climb out.

Hi Heather, You're welcome ... ... and I'm wondering whether you are planning on living forever? I'd thought that, enjoying good health at 80, I'd like something akin to that ... ... until I got digging established grass with a fork, rising, getting down on knees, crawling along with plants to transplant in a small scoop, digging holes to receive them, carrying large bottles of water etc. while getting the garden going. I have some volunteer radishes in the area where radishes went to seed the year before last, and some that came up from seeds dropped last year ... plus, as last year, some volunteer squash plants where some deteriorated ones had been thrown back on the garden. My arthritic index finger on right hand lets me know that it's there, on occasion. Knees like some help from hands when rising from the ground. I think that, when I finish this journey, I too will be cremated. I think that, though the main plots on our family plot in the cemetery where Dad and Mom are buried are filled, it may be possible for my ashes to be buried just a short way underground on a plot already occupied, as Dad's was. Good wishes to you and yours for the upcoming season. ole joyful

What I've been saying all along is that I believe the best way to test the relative level of those risks is to compare the overall health of people that engage in those risks to those that do not. This is how the risk of smoking was most convincingly established. If OP's create significant risks to human health, how on earth can the people who actually experience high exposures to them on a regular basis completely escape the consequences- are you suggesting that dosage is not relevant either specifically or cumulatively? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Epidemiological research doesn't win any one Nobel prizes, it is not terribly creative stuff for a scientist, but in the end, it is often the best way to sort the wheat from the chafe when trying to determine actual levels of risk of any substance in the environment to human health. In the case of pesticides, such evidence is particularly accurate and useful because we have a very distinct segment of the population with uniquely high exposures to them. One can't sort out which pesticides do what but if collectively no great harm is being done then none of the various exposures in themselves can be very significant. At the time of the last study I posted, the farmers surveyed were using a lot of OP chemicals because much of the banning hadn't begun. So both recent accidents and long term health consequences are in the data. Please address any flaws you find in the logic of what I've posted here before posting more research of potential links to cancer or whatever. They never seem to offer an assessment of the actual level of risk, so they are virtually worthless, except as suggestions for epidemiological research to realistically verify the suggestd links .
