i have 2 ponds in my yard with plants and fish. i drained the kids pool for the winter and was going to fill it up again for the kids as it was going to be 90 this week. the pool has about 3 inches of water in it from the rain. it is full of tadpoles. some are large and have their back legs already, but some are still babies. can i move them to one of my ponds without hurting them? so i can ready the pool for the kids. problem 2: i was hanging clothes out on the clothes line yesterday and a million termite "flies" came buzzing by me. they were coming from a stump in the empty lot next to me. i was going to put bleach on it (i heard that will clear them up) but there were a lot of lizards on it eating the "flies" so i did nothing. i do not want any termites in my yard...what do i do? thanks cindy

Hi Ellenr, I can't answer your question on spinach but I do have one of my own. This is my first year wsing vegetables (I want to start my square foot garden). I sowed a fresh pack of organic spinach on 3.14 and have nary a sprout. Did I sow too late? Also I will probably go to Earth Day, if you need a couple more jugs to give away I could probably come up with 2 or 3 or I could ws some more of the ones that come up real fast. Let me know. Teehee... if you get a bumper crop of cukes ever again, and don't pickle (I never pickle cukes, though I sure do pickle a lot of other stuff)... Slice them thin and dehydrate them. Yes, dehydrate. Dehydrated cukes you can grind up and add to ranch dressings, make instant taziki sauce without the extra liquid fresh cukes provide. And can always make that stuff even when cukes are crappy or expensive in the market. And a few dehydrated slices added to plain ole water makes for a nice refreshing boost for tastier drinking.

Thanks so much for your autumn planting suggestions. So helpful- and for the photo which illustrates your method. Never thought to plant in fall, but I think you're right that it might work. We have those same pesky rabbits and they really wreaked havoc this past winter because of the tremendously cold weather early on and the huge snow accumulations (Syracuse, NY- we had below zero weather for about 3 weeks straight). We have some shrubs that we never had to protect that had most of the bark eaten off this year. Sigh! So I would probably cover the spinach like you did. Appreciate your extra effort to tell me your secrets. : )
