I can just imagine what it felt like being infront of that scene. You are very lucky. That pond looks like it took a lot of hard work to build. Very nice.

You may have to do a water change after all the spawning activity too. Just to keep the amonia levels in check. You'll have some hatch in the pond, I wouldn't worry about putting any in a bucket. Don't feed the fish for a few days and let them eat as many of the eggs as they can so you don't have to rehome hundreds of fish later.

Woke up to a half empty pond this morning :/

The edges of the liner are buried and the retention wall blocks are stacked on top (to allow water flow between the bog shelf and the main pond. I will check the perimeter though and be sure. The waterfall liner is just rocked in, but I inspected that this morning first and saw no issues. So far it's been running for 2 hours with no change in water level. Since everything is all stirred up now and cloudy, I took the quilt batting, stuck it in a plastic basket, and put it under the output of the waterfall filter (it's entirely contained in the waterfall, so if it does overflow or anything, it's not going to leak). It's actually working really good and fast at removing the particulates out of the water. It's a bright blue basket, and looks gaudy as heck, LOL, so it's a temporary thing for right now. Garden ponds are an adventure. :)

Black Magic Elephant ear plant

I took my two Black Magic plants out of the pond a couple weeks ago to let them start drying out before winter. I cut the largest leaves off and trimmed the plants up a lot. When I pulled them out of the pond in their pots there were many leaf stems that had grown outside the pot and the part of the plant that was outside the pot had what looked to be large leaf nodes that had spouted small roots. I cut those off and put them in a large glass container of rain water. I hope to have baby Black Magic Elephant Ear by Spring. I will keep the root cuttings in the house all winter and change out the water every couple weeks with fresh rain water and hope for the best. I have about 10 cuttings in the gal size glass container and they have grown a lot in the two weeks.

Morning Magic from the breeders of knockouts

Hi Jean, I just reread the tag and it said it was similar to Brite Eyes which is from the breeders of the knockout. So it kinda sounds like Morning Magic isn't from them. I thought I had read a post on here someone asking about the new ones from Knockout and thought they mentioned this one but it might have been another forum. Gonna go check out the knockout site. Thanks, Judy

Very nice Kazzie. Are you still interested in having my ghost koi? If so I'll have to move her before June 14th because I'll then be away until November. Send me an email if you're interested to chrisyork101@aol.com and we'll work out the details.

Kazzie, That is just wonderful. There is always a magical feel to the day when you first get the dawn creeping up. The air and everything just feels and smells different. I bet that set you up for the day.

Well it didn't stay like that for long!!! Welcome to the forum Mark and Jim.

Chris... I am still interested thank you. You know my pond is just very basic with no mechanics (I don't want you to drive all the way here and think 'there's no way I'm putting the fish in that!!!'). The later in June the better... I've got a big gov inspection going on at work - stress levels are high (the prep is almost as bad as the event itself)!!! Do you not go home for long weekends or anything during summer? Can I get you a plant or something to trade?

Kazzie,
I'll be out of the country from the 16th until I come home sometime at the start of November. I could put her in my Qtank and leave instructions on how to bag her up for transport with my wife. That way you could collect her when you're ready. I'm sure she'll be fine in your pond as it's so big and has very low stocking. I don't want anything for her, just a good home.
