Will my tadpoles starve?

Hiya
I have got a new pond which has got masses of frogspawn in it. The tadpoles have mostly hatched and have stayed in a wriggling mass in the shallows.
Because my pond is so new (finished last autumn) there are hardly any plants in it - just a marsh marigold, some very new Irises and some water mint. It is all murky and full of algae. (can't buy oxygenators anywhere yet).
So my question is this - are my tadpoles going to starve/ eat each other?? I have tried adding little bits of lettuce but they don't seem that interested. Would watercress be a good emergency oxgenator? Do I need daphnia? Help!
