Is this in the same series as "Brandy Punch"? No idea what is giving me that idea, but I must have gotten that notion somewhere. Anyway, if it is, I can say I am thrilled with Brandy Punch - excellent performer. Bloomed early August into mid-September this year. Fabulous color, and I enjoy the bit of reddish tinge in the foliage (it's not *that* pronounced, but it's there). I pinch all my hibiscus multiple times through the late spring/early summery for bushier plants and heavier blooming, and this one definitely needs it - based on growth habit of mine, I can see where it would be a two-stem wonder without pinching, so that may be a drawback if you're not one to keep up with pinching. If it's not in the same series, disregard the above...unless of course it entices you to run out and buy "Brandy Punch" :0b

Hi Paul. I overwintered Hardy Hibiscus Moscheutos several times inside the house.I did not put them to sleep, i let them grow.Put them at sunny window and watered a little just enough to keep the soil moist. After they started to grow fast i increased the amount of water and gave them some food.If you do not have sunny window,any window should be ok.i think. Hala.

it is probably in shock...happens every time I move any plant! Miracle Grow makes a liquid just for transplanting but I don't know if you should use it on the hib. I would say keep it watered but not too wet, they don't like "wet feet". I think if worse comes to worse, you could cut it back and next year it should come back. The hibs you but at garden centers are grown in the pots and their root system is intact, but when you uproot a plant like you did and as I often do, we disturb the plant and it's root system.It's best to move a plant after it has finished blooming. hi...lobelia self seeds and in that way acts as a perennial...there's a hybrid out with red stems that i'm not so sure about...i bought one last year and though i see the green stemmed lobelia rosettes popping up i don't know that any of them are the red :(...my lord baltimore is very slow to come up with no sign yet but i've had it for many years and it always has come back even bigger than the year before!...the thing to keep in mind with it is it definitely does better in an area of moist ground... ...for other reds...have you tried red alaskan poppies...they are earlier because they self seed but if you save some seeds and scatter them now you will get later blooms too...after they are done the pods are nice in bouquets and/or you can just pull the plants out to make room for whatever is coming next...leave one or two for next years seed crop...if you don't already have them you might like tall red phlox, dahlia, lupine, daylillies, roses or monarda for mid-late summer...there's a red penstamen that my sister loves... mary
