Well, I'm not an expert, but my little bit of experience is quite the opposite of a problem to yours - mine won't stop blooming and tend to hang onto their blossoms for months and then as they finally start to wane, out pops a new branch with buds on it. I posted this in another thread - I'm getting a bit desperate to re-pot 2 of them. They've been nonstop blooming since November. I think you're still mothering yours too much. I tend to neglect mine - although now in retrospect, perhaps that's why mine won't stop blooming and rest for a while! Hmmm. I find the Phals easier than my hoya to grow - which I had to nurse along for 20 years before the thing finally bloomed for me and now even its going bloom-crazy. Once in a while I happen to notice the Phals are wilting and then I'll quickly zip some water into them and that's about it. Half the time I forget to fertilize too. I have 1 phal that is in bark medium, 2 are still in the moss pots that they came in from the store. The 2 that are in clear plastic/moss pots, I watch the water dribble on through and come out the bottom and then I stop. The one that is in bark, I dunk the pot in a bowl of water right up to the brim for 30 minutes, then lift out and stick back in the window... maybe once every 2 weeks? In between I might dribble a 1/4 cup worth of water into it if it's been particularly hot/dry weather. Maybe that's just my bunch, but they don't seem to care one way or the other. I never mist mine either. That all being said, my orchids live with a large number of plants in a very large picture-bay window that has a curtain covering them at night so it can be rather naturally humid in there. The phals sit in an east-northeast portion of the window and get about 4-5 hours of morning sunlight dappled through blinds.

Hmmm so i havnt done anything to it yet but the buds leaves and flowers seemed to have stopped dropping...it was originally in the shade and i put it out in a place that gets half a day of sun about a week ago and i think thats what seems to have helped it. The flowers have faded in the sun though and dont look as deep pink :( which is alittle disappointing i guess...The leaves still have that white furry stuff on them though so i might wipe them down again but it is looking alot healthier. The leaves with the dots on them that you guys though might be mites fell off and no more seem to look like that...maybe i am in the clear? will keep a eye on it still but...

Kaz, do you know how to convert cm's to inches? Also, you mentioned liters. Isn't liters for volumn? I'm totally confused what volumn has to do with size of pot. lol I think 15 cm's equal about 6", right? If that number is correct, what is 19 cm's in inches? lol..sorry. Aesir mentioned 5-10". 5-10" is quite an increase, but considering your tree is a foot/12", if there's not too much space between rootball and inside of pot, and if you're using well-draining soil, it should do fine. Shake Calamondin to release loose foliage. Might as well toss detached leaves. If several fall, so be it. But if by chance more leaves drop, you'll know they haven't been spliinted by neighboring leaves. It's better knowing than wondering. Keep watch, but don't pamper..remember, too much TLC works against a plants health..like overwatering. Ever read threads from people who buy a plant, the plant either loses leaves or looks sad, so they add a ton of water or worse, fertilizer! plant dies, the end. Toni

willard, you've posted that list before, but I guess I've never given it serious thought until now (well, now I have that problem). I see a few items on the list that may apply. -now that there's very little rain I've been having to water it with city water, which has a very high calcium content, among other things. -I haven't seen as many bees around as I used to see, but I don't imagine that's the issue when pods aren't even opening. - I've seriously cut back on the nitrogen I give it because I have heard before that it has a negative effect on pod development. -size of pot, yeah, they're 3-4ft tall in 5 gallon buckets, 2 per bucket. that's probably an issue. -too much grower attention, guilty as charged. -there's plenty of light to be had, and air circulation is never an issue. -too low humidity is never an issue here in FL, but what about too high humidity? I'd imagine that could make the pollen clump together and not do its job. am I off base on that one? so it looks like 5 out of 11 on that list may/do apply to me. I guess I'm screwed. there's nothing I can do about the water, short of having to filter it, I guess I can put them in the ground like I did with my brain strain (which currently has 10 pods growing, one of which is mostly ripe), and I don't suppose I could bribe the bees to come back, could I? Josh, I've never fully understood what I was supposed to do when they tell you the strength to mix the fert. is the intention that you mix one tbsp per gal (or whatever it says) and water the plants fully with that? what I usually do is mix slightly below recommended strength, and only give each plant a little bit of the fert-water mix (I mix up a 2 gal watering can, and divide it roughly evenly among my 10 pots), then come back and finish watering with normal water, that way I don't over fertilize. am I doing it wrong? I've never seen any leaf burn. but yes, the leaves that fall off are usually still quite green, but not really all that healthy looking.
