Whew....I'm glad someone else said 'glue'. That's exactly what I was thinking. Why go ruin a perfectly pretty garden by putting flour on it? Delicious cookies would be a better use. I had a few aphids the other day. They seem to be confined to only a couple of roses & while they elicited a couple of curse words from me, I assure you they were gone within seconds of discovery. A blast of water, or a good smooshing between the fingers.

ants milk aphids.... for the honeydew ... they do not cause the aphids.. nor do they spread the aphids .. get rid of the aphids ... and the ants will mind their own business ..... there is little point in trying to control ants... and i am NOT talking about the down south man eating ants ... lol .. now.. if they come in my house.. its all out warfare ... or undermining the cracks in my asphalt .... ken

Insecticidal soap may work okay. It is a little early to be spraying them with anything - tender little things. I don't remember having ever sprayed tomato seedlings quite as young as yours. I haven't had good luck with aphids and rotenone/pyrethrum. Insecticidal soap doesn't work very well in the greenhouse, from my experience. Since the bugs have to dry out to die . . . maybe, the high humidity in the greenhouse lowers the effectiveness. If we can every get a warm, still day in this neck of the woods, putting plants outdoors in the shade and spraying them with the soap may be a good way for you to get past the problem. I have done that often. You probably have quite dry air indoors and taking them outside might not be necessary . No sun! You may also rinse them with a clear water spray after a couple of hours. Now, it would be good to know if anyone has used insecticide on such tiny seedlings. Steve

Greetings, I have a 22' X 24' greenhouse and late this summer I was given a couple green tree frogs that were supposed to take care of my fly, cricket, moth & aphid problems in my greenhouse. I know they are not water frogs, but I do have a pond in my greenhouse which helps keep the humidity quite high. My concern is this: I'm keeping the greenhouse at 40 deg in the evenings and it reaches 60 - 80 deg during the day. I have a heat lamp but they do not sit by the heat lamp. Since the temps started reaching 40 deg in the evening I've not seen the frogs at all. I'm wondering if they did not bury themselves in the soil of one of my plants. Do you think they hibernating? How long can they hibernate? They are not eating the crickets I'm putting out. Does anyone have any ideas on making certain my little tykes make it through the winter here?
