Different sort of baby

My neighbour in the country makes Coppacolla using, how should I say, "traditional methods". I thought I would give it a go using a bit more science! Just packed it into the casing.

It is Northern Italian product made from pork neck. Takes a while to complete but supposed to taste pretty good. {{gwi:2116786}}

Yes, we need more info :) But already I can see your slippery hands and smell the heady spices and garlic. A guess. Yum.

Beats me Sherry. I was hoping someone would tell ME. Some sort of Polyantha, of the Orleans line???? I am open to suggestions. This is a semi-old neighborhood, in an old town (tho the house doesn't appear to be old) in Northern California. I know plants were traditionally shared around, there -- but someone had to "make" this, right? I'd bet money the homeowners don't know, but if I ever see them, I'll surely ask. Jeri

Can a baby needle palm seedling survive any sort of frost?

It can survive a light freeze without problems. Dont let it see anything much colder than the low 30s though because remember that things in pots freeze much faster than things in the ground so it wont take much for the roots to be frozen solid and at a young age like that, it can do some harm. For the record though, I had a young queen palm seedling outside during a light snow and a temperature of 27F and it had no damage (and is alive and much bigger nowadays!). My silver european fan palm is still considered a seedling, but it's probably about 4 years old from seed now and it was outside for much of the winter last year! It only went indoors 4 or 5 nights, when temperatures were below about 22F. Good luck! -Alex

Once they leave the box, they don't go back in. Sometimes if they've fledged to soon, and can't flutter to a bush or low tree, you can throw a towel over them, pick them up and put them back in the nestbox. But you have to put a temporary hole reducer on it so they can't get out for another couple of days. The parents can still feed them though, through the hole. This gives them time to gain the extra strength to make it to safety. Then after a couple of days take it off. I'd say they're at least 12 days old then, and they fledge at 16-21 days old. Leslie

At 2.5 years old with only the cleaner, the floors are exactly where they should be: a little beaten up, a little dry but other wise fully functional. At this point, you will need to do your repairs (hands and knees with sand paper and coloured finish) and add the maintenance oil to everything. And oiled floor can require the recoat (maintenance oil) as often as every year or as infrequently as every 5 years. It all depends on the first application and the abuse since then and the climate. It sounds like the floors are well used and well loved. Excellent. They are exactly where they should be (visually). The recoat with maintenance oil is in order for the whole thing. Colour patches to be done as needed. I will let the boots-on-the-ground type of guys answer the "how to" side of things. Ultimate Hardwood is the best one for this job. Post photos if you can so he can see what is going on with your floors.

(the coppa product) Didn't use sodium nitrate in the Prague powder just sodium nitrite and added minced garlic instead of garlic powder. Chucked in some pimento, nutmeg and cinnamon for a trial. Got the skin from a mate of mine who runs a smallgoods factory but butchers will have them. Used a pork neck and flavoured the outside with black pepper/glucose mix I think to get the lactic acid formation.
No sign of 'green' which is a good sign and it smells OK. Was very particular re hygiene (That's the old Food Technologist coming out)
Maybe I'll do one for Marysville.(There are plenty of toilets in the houses - just joking)

I realise this may sound like a tawdry joke, but anything well hung is fine by me.
I ate Goat's Head Soup in Turkey.
