Noids will continue to carry the name unless you want to register them from seedlings.. Three blooming cycles.. Then. You submit to register with the PSA. Some noids can be identified.. So there is hope!! You just want to be sure when you put a tag on something.. You want to carry the true name.. I have noids without names. They are just beautiful and are some of my favorites. Nothing wrong with a noid. You could even add your own name to it.. Noid tiki!! Lol.. Noid Costa Mesa ... Noid Maui .. It's your tree.. The true varieties are named.. Noid wishful ? Enjoy!! The church tree is making seeds! I collect a few pods today that were starting to turn brown and have placed the little beans inside damp paper towels to see if they sprout. Joey, let me know when you find out where the Berlandiers Acacia is located at the gardens. I'd like to see what it looks like as a mature tree. Today I looked at stump that the church tree is growing from and it's about 8 or 9 inches in diameter. I wish I had paid more attention to it before it was cut down.

Your right - there are many possibilities! Can't get a decent look at the phylodes, but by the look of it (after 2 years), you are looking at a fairly large shrub/tree. Have you tried looking at the ASGAP or nqational botannic gardnes sites? Also any of the native gardening books with photos.

Nik, our early settlers have a lot to answer for....and think what they introduced to their new home-foxes, rabbits, oxalis pes-caprae ( sour-sob) echium plantagineum ( Salvation Jane, Patterson's Curse) etc :-D....I guess we must be grateful for our more stringent global animal and plant quarantine controls. At present the Citrus Gall Wasp (Bruchophagus fellis)... another Aussie nasty, is on my watchlist. So far no sign of it, but my D-I-L found galls on her young lemon tree ( about 15k away ) and had to cut the tree quite severely. I believe it is still an 'in-house' pest. I hope so!
