Robert, It just started to open this morning. I kinda forgot to smell it, I was in hurried to take few pictures head out to work this morning. Really haven't smell any fragrant yet, maybe just haven't focus attention to smell the fragrant. If there is any scent, I will let you know. I am waiting in line for another mystery chinese plant . I was told it supposedly has very nice sweet scent, a string of pearl of white flowers, called pearl orchid ( frankly, I don't think it is orchid, but I am not expert on orchid enough to tell) . I hope my friend's plant lives long enough so she can divide one for me hopefully ..

Looks like Cryptanthus to me. They are a genus of bromeliads commonly called Earth Stars. I've never grown them, so I can't tell you anything else.

'Miss Kim' which is a different species blooms late than the regular vulgaris hybrids. She is also a smaller plant, resistant to mildew and has nice fall color. The scent isn't quite that strong but it is nice. The plant also doesn't sucker and is more attractive out of bloom. Here is a link that might be useful: Miss Kim
