Have you read this book? I did a search but couldn't find a thread on it - although apparently the forum is slow and maybe it wasn't processing properly? I hated this book. I rarely read a book I dislike as much as I did this one - I skimmed a lot of it because I did want to see whether it got better, but I didn't think it did. I had a hard time picking up The Lovely Bones initially but I thought it was an interesting story. Am I missing something with this one? Did anyone have a similar reaction?

I haven't read it, but my (female) boss at work hated it too.

I also hated this book! The Lovely Bones is a favorite-it's hard to believe Ms. Sebold could write two such different books

What a nice picture, Lilo. The moon never looks that impressive around here. Even though we're 75 miles away from D.C. and Baltimore, the light pollution seems to mute the beauty of the night most of the time. Thanks for sharing.

Melissa, What on earth are you going to do when all those plants of your's grow? I am smiling. May consider saving some energy for the voles. If you have 'Gemini Moon' you probably don't need either. I have held off on both. I have seen spring burn on 'Velvet Moon' quite often in different gardens. It also depends on the year how much there will be; sometimes a fair amount to just a little. The 'Moon Split' picture I seen, showed a considerable amount of spring burn. I am assuming all the babies were propagated from the one picture I seen. Like Mother, like daughter. The picture w/ all the 'Moon Splits' shows considerable variation from plant to plant and leaf to leaf. The green margin seems extremely wide in most to produce a replica of 'Moon Split'. It is going to depend on how long they have been grown and sorted by the final grower. I would be surprised to see the green margin shrink in size to get the narrow green margin and the wide yellow margin as shown. As we all know, the green has the vigor. I think some will get lucky to get 'Moon Split' and some will end up w/ 'Velvet Moon'. I have not noticed spring burn on 'Gemini Moon'. Seems to me, your previous list had both anyway? Sidney and Gesila, thanks for confirming that Alligator Shoes and Arc de Triomphe were good choices. Hope mine will become as blue as the blue seems variable in pictures of them I've seen. Moc, one more hosta can't hurt, can it? And they're so easy to put in a pot. I have to cut away tree roots before I can plant but the job is finally done. All 33 are in the ground and some I've put in spin out bags. I'll post some pictures when it stops raining. Sidney, there were some hostas that I passed up because they had been picked over already and the remaining plants weren't very healthy looking: Chesapeake Bay and Komodo Dragon. Now I have no big spots left, so I'm limited to adding only small hostas. I'm getting up there in years, so I have to make hay while the sun shines.

I checked out Almost Moon from the library a few weeks ago and was so pressed for time that I decided to read the reviews for it to see whether I wanted to read it. The reviews were so universally dismal from readers and critics alike that I decided not to, even though I really liked The Lovely Bones. Normally I don't pay a lot of attention to the reviews on Amazon and B&N, but this time I'm glad I did.

I really disliked "Lovely Bones."

I'm glad to see that this forum is working properly. iVillage was doing some work to the Gardenweb forums overnight (here), and Antique Roses forum is requiring everyone to fill in a form with email and name each time they want to post. Of course, people are using fake email addresses. I was concerned that all the forums were like that, but apparently not.

hm, from reading the jacket cover I don't think I'd buy it and from these comments now I know I won't bother with it.

rosefolly, I've noticed that new requirement from other threads on GardenWeb. I certainly hope they are not planning to change all the forums to those specifications! But why should the gardening forums be subject to change and the other forums not???

Gardenweb is back to normal. Apparently it was a bug in the upgrade they did, now resolved.

Thanks for your posts - I'm glad to know I wasn't alone in my dislike of this book - I thought it would be thought-provoking or something but I just did not like it. I thought perhaps I wasn't quite "getting it" -- apparently there wasn't anything else to get!

Woodnymph, I see from other posts that you are correct. Mine is now working, so I thought it was fixed, but I see that other people are still having problems.
