Goldfish turning white! help

Dear Group

What do you think? they seem very happy. Only 2 out of the 5 Goldfish are progressively turning white. Started 12-18 mth ago, they are the fat ones as well, thought they may be the females!

Hope somebody else has this effect on fish.

Mark, Im pretty sure that I have read somewhere else on this forum that this is totally fine and can happen to goldies. If they have survived this long anyway I would have the general feeling that they will be fine. As to the reason, I`m sure one of the good folk on here will have the explanation you need.

Yes mine have also turned colour. Some of them never turn from the brown to orange in the first place. I don't have an explanation for why this happens. It is just one of the oddities of pond life. It is sometimes a shame though when you have bought a fish for it's beautiful bright orange colour and then it goes and changes into a pale version or a multicoloured version.

I kept waiting for someone to answer your question. What kind of white blotches? Is it a few missing scales that perhaps have been knocked off by some overzealous male fish. Or is it little white pimples on its gills or fins, that might indicate it is a male looking for some female fish to knock around to make her lay her eggs. I have had white patches on my fish before and didn't worry too much because I figured it was the above. But when some of the patches started to grow cottany looking stuff on them and I lost one fish, I treated them for fungus. One of my fishes that had it the worse, looked like someone had pulled it's skin off it's entire side and after treatment, it returned to normal and now has a name "Long Shot". If your water is very clean and your fish don't get stressed, a few missing scales won't hurt anything and they will get over their bangs and bruises. Glenda

My Black Moor goldfish is turning golden

I have a pond full of fancy goldfish, including three black moors. Goldfish start out black or brown and change colors later. This helps them hide while they're small enough to be eaten. I've had babies change colors while they are an inch or so long, and others that have taken three years to change. Black moors usually keep their black color, but there are other colors of telescope-eyed fish and I suspect that's what you have. It probably just took him a while to change.

Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree help! Brown spots and soil turning white

I have a small Fiddle Leaf Fig tree that I treasure. I live in Australia and it's the beginning of winter however I have two new leaves sprouting on my plant. I noticed some very small brown dots running along the veins of the new leaves. Should I worry?? I've done a bit of research but found nothing concrete on what the problem could be or how to treat it. I've also noticed that the soil has started to turn white on the surface, around the edges. It does not appear to be crystalized or furry. Are these two issues related? The plant sits by a large window in my kitchen. I water it once a week and the soil is always Damp. Could I be over watering? Could the plant be too cold? I love my tree so any advise is much appreciated! I've uploaded some pictures for reference.

Thanks Alison and Steve. I feel better that it is not something I am doing that has caused this colour change. You are right it is a shame when they lose the lovely bright orange. I still have 3 that are completely orange, but will treat them all the same!!
