is it all the oldest leaves??? those closest to the media??? and you said: I water every other day, or when the soil looks dry, how about you insert finger.. and let them dry a bit.. rather than relying on sight ... i would just pinch off the leaves.. and insure proper water.. before i would jump to disease issues ... but i do NOT profess to be a tomato expert .. ken

Can you post a picture of the whole bed? I'm curious about the black tarp around the plant. Is it around all of your plants? In this picture it looks like the tarp is slanting slightly inward toward the base of the plant, maybe creating an area of pooled water against the stem? If so, and you have had a lot of rain and not great drainage, it could have weakened the lower stem causing it to fall over. Just an idea.

Timmy, I'm surprised at that kerosene heater recommendation. Unvented kerosene heaters will cause tissue damage to tomatoes and many other plants. Unvented propane can even be risky. The only problem I ever had with wood is when my wood pile was stacked too close to the stove and caught fire one night. KK, that being said, I would have a foolproof heat system for the investment you are making. Furthermore, you want inside circulation fans (at least 2 on each side, each side moving air in opposite directions). My experience is that when you lose plants on a marginal night, those lost are plants in a corner or end. The same occurs when you have a framed cover within the structure. Never assume that when the weatherman forcasts a low of 32*F that it won't drop to 22*F. Either way they won't lose their job. As a large investment grower you need to insure survivability of the crop by preparing for the worst set of conditions.

This is a picture of the same plant in the second photo. Not alot of limestone here in our part of the woods we are in the low lands. As far as what I'm doing for soil it is potting mix in this one real loose dirt doesnt get packed up. Using ferterlizer for tomatoe plants cant rembmer the numbers but its the normal everyday stuff. I kind of backed off of watering I thought it might have been from too much water with the rain we had. Can they get this way from too much water or is that not an option. It does have 3 tomatoes already also
