I know it is hard without a pic of it! And, I realized when you replied that I forgot to mention that it is not fragrant at all. Even though it looks and feels like some type of herb. So, not a sage. By looking at it you would think sage or lavender with the grayish leaves and the flowers. Thanks for replying! I have been trying to do Google searches to try and find out what it is, and how to propagate it. I tried a hardwood cutting for my MIL, but it didn't take. Sred

Last year I bought a Nikon D40 and didn't discover until bloom season that it didn't capture purples and blues with the accuracy that we need for irises. I was really unhappy. Fortunately I was able to sell it to someone who didn't need that capacity and buy myself a Rebel. This trip was the tryout trip for the new camera. Most of these photos were taken in full sun, between 10 and 4. Not usually the best time for iris photos, but aside from the white areas (which got totally blasted) the color came out really well.

Hi Cori Ann, Do you need the rose to actually "climb" on something or just need the height of a climber? Paradise is a tall HT with stiff canes that wouldn't be easy to train to climb unless you got the climbing sport...but in your climate, the non-climber might get tall enough as a free standing bush if that fits your need. We have colder winters here, and I prune my non climbing version of Paradise to around 2 ft beginning of each season...still it grows to at least 7 ft by fall each season. Here's the top of mine last July towering over everything else already only half way into our season:

Mantis, Jerry Betzler was the hybridizer of Limelight and Lavender. He was a member of the same club I was in until he died. His wife was Marie Skelley and she also hybridized. She was more into tet breeding. Jerry was after the elusive blue daylily. I would frequent their garden, as they tended to purchase the newest cultivars every year. I remember getting into a bidding war with her and another lady who had deep pockets for VICTORIAN LACE. I managed to hang with them and got my piece for $110.00. Everybody knew that if Marie wanted a daylily, she was going to get it. I must have been 30 years old and had been in the club for 2 years. Back to Jerry. He was quite outspoken at club and region events. I remember seeing one of the parents of LIMELIGHT AND LAVENDER in their garden, BLUE DOG. It was nothing to write home about as the scape only had five or 6 buds, but it was a slate grey lavender and at certain angles, I could see it leaning towards a sky blue. They had a stream that ran behind their house and they managed to have a pool of water and pump the water to water their garden. They were quite knowledgeable about daylilies and were not shy about sharing their thoughts about other people's intros. I always paid attention to what they would bid on, because I knew they did their homework. Jerry and Marie both have several introductions. Marie had some Native American blood so she named several with Cherokee as the first word. I grow one of hers as well - CHEROKEE HERITAGE.
