OK.... the dreaded S's. I am trying to establish an quasi-japanesque garden that will cop a lot of shade in the winter notes. The criteria for the shrubs must/may be dense fine leaf material, able to be pruned to shape ie; 'dome-like' . a similar species would be buxus, leptospermum, baeckea virgata or Westringea spp. Westringea would be an ideal option though with less light you can shoot holes through the bush! So its no good. Must appear that they are dense vegetatively. they ideally be native (read prefer) In summer the sheltered position receives 6-8+ hours dappled sun. The desired plant hopefully would not become 'leggy' long nodal distance due to lack of sunlight
