They are gorgeous Linda. What a lovely present.

they both look like little belters! we're after something similar in the spring when our koi man gets his new stocks in. enjoy! d:)

I like the soragoi, they are as friendly as chagoi too (same gene pool) we had 3 of them, not sure how many left at mo tho, we had a visit from a kingfisher, he may have had at least two of them if not all 3 and 3 others as well :(

I like them, wish I could buy at this time of year. I really want a chagoi or magoi (or whatever the big friendly black one is)

Do you mean a Karasugoi? I've never seem one. If it's the same family as the other 'goi's it will be a friendly fish. They are so willing to eat out of you hands, and once one fish does it, we found that the others all follow. It's amazing.

I can't remember the name but it definately began with an m, I think I saw it on a thread at koivet. They are a really old breed of koi from where all the newer types come from I think it said. I'll try and find it later, they were really cool looking massive fish.

But yes the main reason I want one is for their friendliness.

Ah ha! Found a Magoi. You were right. It's on the link below. Will have to keep an eye out for one, as I don't think I have ever seen one.

I found the koivet link as well, tried to find some more but they're mainly all about the history of koi. Here it is anyway, some nice looking biggies in there.

Here is a link that might be useful: Magoi

The Magoi is just a black fish, the japanese dont even class them as worthy koi anymore :( all the goi breeds are friendly and fast growers, just the magoi is the oringinal strain so got lost in the japanese show standards, the magoi isnt classed as show standard, personal i am after a midorigoi, had a small one but it died, and havent found another since :(
