Okay, I am going to repot it tonight. When I get it out of the pot, should I remove the rotted roots? Cut them off till I hit healthy roots? What about watering the newly potted tree. I am thinking of putting it in either a smaller pot, or using the same pot but half the soil amount. I have seen this befor with potted fruit trees. Tammy did this with one of her mangoes and I believe CH3rri also did it. What do you guys think? I am hoping it is not too late but if I lose one out of three, that is not too bad. The rest of my tropicals are good except two citrus have spider mites now but I have been spraying with soapy water. The blood orange seems the worse off so far. It is dropping leaves but the keylime is not losing any leaves. Andrew

Jerry, your potting mix looks very similar to mine. Is it AL's (Tapla) soil mix? Turface, pine bark fines, granite-grit? If it is I just his mix... I'm not sure what that could be, are the leaves okay? Maybe some type of fungus? Maybe if you don't get an answer here, you can email Pine Island Nursery and send them a picture, maybe they can tell you what it might be. They are very helpful and knowlegeable. Keep a vacuum handy when you open the bin and sweep them up as they fly out. Just crack the bin enough to make them come through where it will be easy to catch them without chasing them. Chasing them in the air will just tick you off more. You definitely don't want to put the vacuum too close to the bedding! Do this in addition to what Andrew mentioned or use cardboard. If I get flies (nearly always seem to come in on bananas), I use cereal box cardboard to cover the bedding. If the flies come out, they will come out around the edges where it is easy to catch them with vacuum hose. Tapping the cardboard will make several come out at once.

OMG! Brazilian peppers are banned in FL if I'm not mistaken. If/when you remove those, be VERY careful to get all the seeds. Those are carried into the wetlands by birds and, well, there's a good reason they're banned. We need to ban them here, too. Mangos are simply a pain in the butt. Nobody can eat the fruit fast enough because they all ripen and fall off the tree on the same day. You go from a clean yard to literally tons of fruit on the ground overnight. Banyan trees look nice as a gigantic ornamental specimen in an even more gigantic open space. You don't have that. That's the wrong tree in the wrong place. So I guess I'm saying you need to get rid of all those trees. All of them are the wrong tree in the wrong place. The palms can stay - maybe. At 30 feet high it's not like you can enjoy the foliage. They are simply a big trunk you have to mow around. At least they are not a pest and won't interfere with grass. Okay so currently the only grass that even might survive is St Augustine, but I would focus on tree removal before spending another dime on the lawn. Any grass you install now would get torn up with tree removal. Plus if you get rid of all that shade your choices of turfgrass open up beyond just St Augustine.
