Last year I had severe peach curl leave on my nectarine tree. eventually the leaves infected will die and fall off.New leaves will sprout.The fruit will be limited or small in size.There is nothing you can do for this coming harvest or season. Prepare for next year. Get one product that fights peach curl leave fungus.They sell them in OSH,Homedepot,Lowes or a garden center or agricultural outlet. Spraying should be done after summer in the fall after all leaves fell.You could do in December one time and again February or before bud swelling. You can use also bordeaux mix which you can mix yourself:copper sulfate(powder form), Hydrated lime (powder form) and water.Use the following ratio:10LBScopper sulfate,10lbshydrated lime and 100gallons water.Just adjust for small amounts by cutting the fractions equally.I did my mixture and it worked.My nectarine is totally free from peach curl leave.I got the copper sulfate and hydrated lime in ebay out of state.I used a craftmsman sears backpack sprayer.

Would need to know what sort of potting medium you are using as well as your watering regime. Where in zone 9 are you located? Areas of SoCal in zone 9 can generate some pretty hard, alkaline water sources and these may not be at all to your tree's liking. And how do you fertilize? All containerized plants will need routine fertilization. Off the top of my head I'd say it was a water issue - too much/too little/poor drainage. These tend to be the most common sources for the symptoms you describe, especially with container grown plants. Bloodgood (and most other red leafed JM's) are extremely sun tolerant so that unlikely to be a cause. FYI, there is a Maples forum that deals with dozens of issues with Japanese maples (as well as other species) and with input from a lot of very experienced growers. Had you posted there you would not have waited 4 months for a response :-)

Hello Forum member's I've Noticed my VCR Leaf Start To Curl & Black Spots Under The Leafs , What is the proper treatment for this ? Should I just re-potted ? , I use Liquid Copper for controlling Anthracnose On My Mango Trees don't know if Liquid copper is too strong for my Plumeria . I appreciate any help.. Ed

DON DiSciascio Actually I have the past 3 years. I was using a commercial fungicide for 2-3 years without effect, and was ready to trash the tree. I now spray with the bleach solution in late fall after the tree is going dormant, and late winter/early spring before the buds break. I haven't had an incident of curl since I started using the bleach. The tree is healthy, and of course I am spraying before the pollinators and most insects are out. BTW, bleach is indeed a fungicide. I have a native plum that has had plum pocket the past 2 years and again this year, despite my clean up efforts last year. Today I removed all of the fruit, from tiny to already large and distorted (but not yet showing spores). I had sprayed with a commercial fungicide before bud break this spring without effect - so next year I am going to try the bleach. If that doesn't work, the tree is going to be cut down.
