I recently purchased a number of small native plants and then managed to let them dry out before planting. The growing tips have died and leaves are not looking the best. What effect will planting these have on the growth on the tree? Should I purchase new plants to replace the ones that dried out?

I have done this myself before. I snipped of the dead/dry bits, gave them a really good soak, planted them and watered in well. Some passed on to the great nursery in the sky, but I managed to salvage quite a few. I think a lot depends on what they actually are, but hey, it's worth a try!

I would stick the dried out pots into a bucket of water and leave them to rehydrate for a while. Then I would plant them in a well watered hole.

I would also snip of the dead bits.

Give plenty of mulch and some seaweed spray.

Should get them back into a happy state.

The Serviceberry tree is a small one, with dangling white inflorescences in spring. It produces berries that look a bit like blueberries, but darker, and the birds love them. Elderberry bushes produce a berry that birds also love--but they reseed quite readily, depending on where you plant them. They can be rather gangly looking unless they get full sun.

Or snip of the dead bits, water them well and keep them in a plastic covered box (humid environment) for a while.
